<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; line-height: 15.6pt" class="MsoNormal">Continually telling yourself that you will workout 4 days per week, but only making three leaves you feeling disappointed.  Similarly, saying you will do 30 minutes of cardio, but cutting it short at 25 will leave you with the same feeling.  </p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; line-height: 15.6pt" class="MsoNormal">Be realistic.  Commit to what is realistic and enjoy the surplus if you do more.</p>

<p><o:p><em>&#8212; </em></o:p><strong><em>Check Your Intensity<u1:p></u1:p></em><u1:p><em>.</em> <o:p></o:p></u1:p></strong><strong><u1:p></u1:p></strong><o:p><strong> </strong></o:p><span style="font-family: Georgia"><span> </span></span>Are you “going through the motions” during your workout, rationalizing “something is better than nothing”?  If so, you are absolutely 100% correct. <o:p> </o:p></p>
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; line-height: 15.6pt" class="MsoNormal">Something <em>is</em> better than “nothing”, however, if you are not happy with your results, “something” is not enough. </p>
<p><o:p> </o:p>If this idea seems scary, ease into it by doing one workout per week at a higher intensity (whether cardio and/or lifting) and keep your easier pace on the other days.<u1:p> </u1:p><u1:p></u1:p><u1:p></u1:p><o:p> </o:p><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p><o:p>&#8212;</o:p><o:p></o:p><o:p></o:p><strong><em>Add Some Flavor!<u1:p></u1:p></em><u1:p> <o:p></o:p></u1:p></strong><strong><u1:p></u1:p></strong><o:p><strong> </strong></o:p></p>
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; line-height: 15.6pt" class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Georgia"><span> </span></span>Are you doing the same things during workouts over and over? </p>
<p><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; line-height: 15.6pt" class="MsoNormal"><span> </span>If so, add a dash of variety.<span>  </span>Your body gets used to the exercises after 3 to 4 weeks and you will no longer experience optimal gains from doing the same thing over and over. </p>
<p><o:p> </o:p> Again, something <em>is</em> better than “nothing”, however, if you are not happy with your results, “something” is not enough.  Add variety by:<span style="font-family: Georgia"> <o:p></o:p></span><span style="font-family: Georgia"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<ul type="disc" style="margin-top: 0in">

<li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; line-height: 15.6pt; tab-stops: list .5in" class="MsoNormal">learn a new strength exercise (ask the front desk at your gym for help).<o:p></o:p></li>
<li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; line-height: 15.6pt; tab-stops: list .5in" class="MsoNormal">try a new class at your gym or rent a video.<o:p></o:p></li>

<p><o:p> </o:p>Getting results is not a secret, however, it does take some planning and continual change.  If you have more questions about getting results, please post your question in the YOUR Fitness FAQ&#8217;s article.<strong>How have you kept your workouts fresh and focused?  Please post a comment and share!</strong></p>
